Tourist Tuesday

Yesterday, we visited The Forbidden City, one of the popular Beijing Hutongs (which means narrow alley, but actually is like an old neighborhood, with narrow streets and old-fashioned homes).  We were able to see Tienanmen Square, but it was closed, with something going on there.  We had a local family in the Hutong, cook us lunch.  That was delicious!  Noodles, rice, a chicken and pepper dish, pork dumplings, some pork and veggies, and some pork meatballs.  We rode in a Rickshaw.  The girls and I rode in one, while Joe and Eric (our guide) rode in the other.  We rode all around the Hutong, along the river, and had a beautiful view of downtown Beijing.  We rode the subway to the square and Eric had parked his car there, and drove us to the Hutong.  Then we rode back with him.  Eric works for BLAS (Bridge of Love Adotption Services), which is part of the CCCWA (the Chinese adoption agency).  He drove us by the CCCWA, which was great!  I took 150 pictures, but will just post a few.  :)

The Forbidden City

In the square of the Forbidden City.  15 layers of bricks (8 going horizontally, 7 going vertically).  Built in 1420?  They fixed a path before the Beijing Olympics, but most of them are the original bricks

2 girls hiding under an umbrella.  Where did they go?
Bubbles in the Forbidden City square.  Hoping we wouldn't get arrested.  Eric said it was all good!

Baba (daddy) won some favor with Phoebe Jin Cheng

I love this one!

These 2 have become good friends already!

Yes, another photo for mama!

This tree is 500 years old

  1. What beautiful girls and a beautiful relationship they are starting.
I am asking The Lord to continue to make the relationship bonds in your family. That your family will continue to come up with unique ways of communicating and expressing needs, wants and love. Praying for hearts to be healed. Also asking God to protect your family and all the paperwork that is going on. That there would be no delays in paperwork or travel. That He would go before and behind you while in China and back home.
